It was true fate that Grant and Randa had never met before they did. With the help of multiple mutual friends (Like Katie, Maurey and Tiffany) the two had been told about each other. After weeks of both Grant and Randa being stand-offish to meeting, Randa had horrible luck while working a show in Fort Worth. The starter went out in her truck and the brakes went out in her trailer. After 24 hours Randa made it home and was told by her Dad to take the trailer straight to Gooseneck in the morning. While on the way that next morning, Tiffany texted Randa saying she had just cut Grant's hair and he was still wanting to meet her. Knowing that Gooseneck was operated by Grant's Family, Randa responded to give Grant her number since she was in need. While they did not meet that day, they did meet the next evening at Rockies for a night of dancing where Grant's softball team was celebrating a state championship they had just won. Randa soon learned that night that Grant lived only a few streets behind her!

Even though Grant and Randa had met and knew they were basically neighbors, there was still a lot of cat and mouse going on. The two would see each other while out on neighborhood walks (or as Randa says, Grant was already keeping tabs on her). Then one day Grant asked Randa if she would like to go dove hunting, and even though she had been waiting on an official date invite, she responded that she was only good at shooting air and being a bird dog. But he still wanted to take her. So, after a camo outfit and hunting license purchase along with a crash course lesson from her brother, Randa was ready. She even shot her very first dove that evening. Grant said if she would get bird #2 he would take her to dinner. Even though she didn't, Grant followed through and took her for sushi. He ordered the love boat as their main course (very brave at that time) and Randa's fortune cookie read to "Enjoy what is around you and take a break, you deserve it". Grant said he couldn't agree more. It was also so cute that when the waitress asked why they were wearing Camo, Grant proceeded to brag on Randa having her first successful dove hunt. After he dropped Randa off, he "needed to go on a neighborhood walk" and asked her to join. That night they walked 5 miles together talking about all aspects of life. Since then they have spent almost every evening and weekend together :)
The next week Grant asked Randa to go to an out of town Aggie Football Game with him. But the kicker was his parents would be there, too. Confident and ready to meet the parents, Randa agreed. And if you ask her, she will say this trip is when she "knew". She had left her fringe cross body purse in the vehicle and needed to go grab it. Grant told her to stay talking to her friends and he would get it for her. He proudly grabbed her purse and walked across the parking lot with a smile on his face. That coupled with the fact that Grant wore a more attention grabbing outfit than Randa put the icing on the cake.
Grant asked Randa to be his official girlfriend on October 4, 2014 - the day before his 30th birthday. He told her brother, Jacob, just a few weeks after that he would marry Randa one day. Then on December 4, 2015 (14 months after) he asked her to marry him. And on February 4, 2017 (exactly another 14 months) they will get married!

To preface, you must know that Grant asked Randa literally on their second neighborhood walk if she was to get engaged how she would want it. Her response, “I would love a big production like fireworks and glitter or a water fountain show. But I want it to be a total surprise.” So, Grant had his work cut out for him…
Randa was used to spending the majority of every December in Vegas where she would have a Southern Jewlz booth at the National Finals Rodeo Each year. But last year, two of her friends (Congrats Jared & Amber) decided to get married on the last weekend of the NFR, so she decided to take a year off. However, she had already paid rental deposits so wanted to still go to see where she would like her Southern Jewlz booths in the future years to be located. This along with the fact that so many friends have always wanted to come see her during the NFR, Grant & Randa decided to make it a friend trip. The first weekend of the NFR back in 2011 was Randa's very first time to go to Vegas….EVER! It was a girls trip with her friend Emily. So the first weekend of the NFR at that point had become their thing. Her boyfriend at the time (and now Hubby) Ryne had come to be a great friend of Grant's, so those two coming along made perfect sense. James Dunklin helped her manage one of the two booths she had the year before in Vegas, so him and his fiancé joining again made perfect sense. Along with Dunklin, her brother Jacob had helped her in Vegas before, so he fit into the mix. And then Katie and her husband Luke actually had a trip planned 2 years ago to come see Randa in Vegas, but had to cancel due to sickness. Add in Ashleigh and Tanner and Amy and Jeff, along with Wild Wendy and Tiffany who were already in Vegas - there were no suspicions that this was anything more than a friend trip.
Grant and Randa flew out of Houston on Friday morning and when getting ready to board, Grant noticed his boarding ticket did not have a seat number on it. When he walked up to the front desk, they said the plane was overbooked and he couldn't get on. They sat and waited until the last person showed up and someone gave up their seat for a coupon voucher, then Grant was able to actually get on the plane. We had reservations at Prime Steakhouse in the Bellagio that night at 8pm, but the restaurant called and pushed it back to 9pm. With the delay, Randa asked if everyone could meet in the Bellagio lobby to take pictures in front of their big beautiful Christmas trees.
Once everyone got seated at Prime, it was 9:30pm. Which if anyone knows Grant, you will know he is a stickler for being punctual. But the deal was, Grant had the balcony bar at Hyde reserved privately for everyone from 10-10:30 to do the proposal where no other people would be, but it was already too late. So "on the way to the high roller" as Randa thought, they stopped by Hyde to say hello to a friend of a friend. Being out on the beautiful balcony overlooking the Bellagio water fountains, it was decided a group picture needed to be taken. Wild Wendy suggested Grant and Randa go first to take a couple's pic and right as Randa saw everyone take out their phones to "get a picture" Grant pulled her in close and whispered some of the sweetest love words and ended up on one knee asking her to marry him. Then everything began to make perfect sense and everyone celebrated the night away as well as the rest of the weekend in Vegas to celebrate the engagement of Grant and Randa.
